History & Structure

In 1995 the Youth Club began as an off-shoot of The Palace Soccer School and was under the leadership of Phil Cain until 2004 when APYFC was constituted in its current form by; Nick Battcock, Will Staniland & John Morris, to deliver structured & competitive football for their sons. The Club first achieved FA Charter Standard status in 2005 with the Committee assisted greatly by Melanie Battcock, the main driver behind this initiative.

For 2019/20 season APYFC is home to 500 players forming 39 squads playing and training at venues in and around; Alexandra Park, Muswell Hill, Wood Green, Crouch End and Finchley. We are proud to be one of Haringey’s largest grass roots youth football clubs providing football for boys and girls from 7 to 18 and a pathway to adult football.

APYFC is;

  • Non-profit making

  • Managed and operated by volunteers

  • An open club that aims to deliver, structured, competitive football in a safe and fun environment for players of all ability levels

To try and ensure financial constraints don’t constrain membership, concessionary/discounted subscriptions are offered (at the discretion of the Management Committee) to a number of players each year.

APYFC is affiliated to the London FA, and our teams compete in The Watford Friendly League , The Capital Girls League and various Cups . In addition the AFA assist us in our development objectives.

Our teams play:

  • 5-a-side matches at U8 (school year 3)

  • 7-a-side matches at, U9 & U10 (school years 4, & 5)

  • 9-a-side matches at U11 & U12 (school years 6 & 7)

  • 11 a-side matches at U13, U14, U15, U16 & U18 (school years 8 to 13)

Each team is managed by a volunteer parent and trains weekly with a qualified FA Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 [UEFA ‘B’] coach and all matches are refereed, primarily by qualified referees.

The Club is committed to, and abides by, the FA rules and regulations concerning coaching, child protection and grass roots football development. We have a Child Protection Officer and, in keeping with our FA Charter Standard status, full CRC checks and minimum Level 1 coaching qualifications in place.

APYFC is part of the Alexandra Park Club which includes Alexandra Park F.C. & Alexandra Park C.C. and whose histories date back to 1898 and 1888 respectively.
